I just finished reading this book. It was a quick summer read and it was set in my second favorite city on earth, Washington, D.C. I was a tad surprised to hear that Sarah Jessica Parker had signed on to executive produce a pilot based on the book. I mean, I would watch the HBO show in a heart beat, but the book was rather heavy when it came to sex and drugs. There was a rather graphic sex scene described that had to do with M&Ms. It was one of the more disgusting things I’ve ever read.

There is a lot of high fashion mentioned in the books. The main character is from NYC and wears designer labels, which I know from personal experience are not very appreciated on Capitol Hill. But she wears them anyway.

I have to say I hated the main character in this book. She was shallow, self-centered and often had sex for money or drugs. It will be difficult for SJP and HBO to turn her into a likable character with whom audiences with sympathize.
