I wear prada

20Aug07

http://www.wivenhoe-eyecare.co.uk/prada_logo.gifI live for weekends like this past one. John, his sister and I hit the stores, my birthday money and gift cards in tow. First stop, Old Navy. I found a cute trapeze top half off that reminded me of Neapolitan ice cream. Second stop, Jimmyz, where I found a cute, super soft denim top for $10. Went to Gap and I bought three (red, black and nude) hair bands for $15 (this is decidedly not a bargain, unlike the rest).

Then we left the mall to go to Marshalls. Now, this particular Marshalls I had never been fond of. I’d never made a really great find (unlike the ones in my hometown and college town). Until this past Saturday. There I am, a couple of mediocre items in my hand, when I see it. In the clearance rack, my eyes hone in on the tag like a stealth bomber (if they even can hone): PRADA. A freaking Prada jumpsuit for $40. It’s very unique and very summery. But shit. I could barely speak. I looked around, found the dressing room, sprinted in, tried it on and mouthed “Hallelujah” when it was the perfect size.

So my best friend and I are going out with our boys this weekend to dinner. There I will debut the cute Prada. I wanted to post a picture with this entry, but have yet to get around to it. It’s navy silk shorts with the most perfect pleats you’ve ever seen. The top is sheer, nude with red lips on it. I don’t recognize it from any recent collections, and I’m not sure what season it’s from. So I’m calling it vintage. Ha. I’ll post a picture and perhaps some of you will have seen it before. (Note: We Southerners don’t get a lot of chances to own Prada. My budget is small and stores in the South hardly ever get designer clothes — mostly just Banana Republic, Gap, etc. While I do own some designer items, they are ones I have HUNTED for or bought while living in/visiting bigger cities. I only ever owned a pair of Prada sandals before, and I sold them on eBay because they were too small.)

The next stop was TJ Maxx, where I found a BCBG $170 sweater for $7 to wear over the sheer top of the jumpsuit. Classic.

On a side note, today I stopped by another TJ Maxx and bought a beautiful Audrey Hepburn-esque Calvin Klein dress for $40. They also had a Betsey Johnson dress for $15 that I put back at the last minute. They had Badgley Mischka for $36, but it was too big at size 12. I almost bought it to sell on eBay. Perhaps if it’s still there this weekend, I will. People in the South!!! They leave Badgley Mischka and Prada just sitting around for months!!! Crazy!

Have you found any great bargains like this!? Share!!!

  1. This is quite a up-to-date info. I think I’ll share it on Digg.

  2. If you want to hear a reader’s feedback :) , I rate this article for 4/5. Decent info, but I just have to go to that damn google to find the missed bits. Thank you, anyway!
